Welcome to a look at the work of Valerie Kirby, painter and printmaker. This work dates from 1983 to Autumn 2005 and consists of oil paintings, mixed media, etchings, mono-prints and watercolours. More etchings will be added shortly to the collection.
Valerie Kirby was born in Bath and studied
painting and printmaking at Brighton College of Art. Before moving to the Tamar
Valley in South East Cornwall, she lived in West Yorkshire and London.
She has taken part in various group exhibitions in the South West and in Yorkshire, including the “South West Open” in Plymouth, and “Nine Days of Art” in West Devon. She has also had several solo exhibitions in Yorkshire and the South West.
She is a member of the Plymouth Society of Artists and as with previous years, she is holding an 'Open Studio' with other artists living and working in the Tamar Valley (see below) organised by Drawn To The Valley.
"Over the years my paintings have changed considerably, perhaps now becoming less tightly structured and more gestural. However, despite their differences, there is an underlying obsession with colour which unites the work."
The titles and images to the left represent the different media in which Valerie works and are shown in approximately chronological order and link to each gallery category.
